Below are some helpful tips to assist in proper use of Crest products. You can also refer to our Product Download Page for product support documents, product manuels, A&Es, etc.
EMBEDDED DVRs
- The default user name and password for the CDR series are “admin” and “0000”.
- When putting a CDR on a network utilizing TCP/IP, the needed ports for forwarding are 7301 – 7307, and port 80.
- The CDR series models all have USB ports on the front panel for easy access. USB thumb drives can back up data at twice the speed of a CDRW, can hold much larger files, and are easier to transport and store.
IP Cameras & Devices
- All Crest IP cameras leave the factory with the default address of 192.168.1.80. For ease of installation and server setup, it is recommended that the
installer hook each camera up individually to a workstation, and set the cameras address and function parameters before installing the cameras
at the job site. - All Crest IP cameras, with the exception of the CDP speed domes, operate via 12vDC power, or by utilizing PoE. The CDP series operates on
24vAC only. - Remember to calculate the bandwidth requirements for your cameras before purchasing and installing your network switches and routers – especially
when using mega-pixel and HD cameras.
UTP Transmission
- When using UTP, it is important to remember to maintain polarity, making sure that the pair doesn’t get flipped between the head end and the camera, or at any junctions.
- The CVB-121 is recommended for use at the head end when a passive hub is not needed. The 121 has a short pigtail to ease installation on the back of a DVR, and it also has a built-in noise reduction feature.
- Passive baluns are all that’s required up to 900 feet of cable length. Using an active balun on a short cable run of less than 900 feet will result in an over boosted and distorted signal.
